The game’s plot tells the story of the titular Gatewalkers who are able to use some kind of teleporters that take them to other mysterious lands, each of which differs in climate (maintained in a fantasy convention) and elements of the world. environment (the result of a procedurally generated world). Each country has different obstacles to overcome, so the heroes must adapt to the new circumstances and divide up the responsibilities (for example, starting a fire, finding food or setting up a tent).

To survive, you must also choose the right equipment and create useful new items through the crafting system and the recipes and resources found while exploring. There are no predefined classes in Gatewalkers, so the game allows a lot of freedom in character creation – there are no limitations typical of most fantasy RPGs. So, for example, a healer can easily wear heavy armor.
Gatewalkers was created with multiplayer in mind. Co-op up to four players takes place only in online mode, without the possibility of playing on a single computer. Nevertheless, the developers have also prepared a single-user game.
