I enjoy games from the Arkane studio. The excellent Dishonored series left a lasting mark on my view of the gaming world. Add in the fact that I’m a shooter veteran, I don’t despise good open worlds either, and I devour all post-apo variations with pleasure.
SO redfall on paper seems like a pretty cool contender for the title of a game I’d be devoting unprecedented dozens of hours to, and happily revisit. So much theory, now place for practice.
As if the man knew, but he was wrong
Redfall is a game specially designed for cooperation, to play with friends. Knowing this, I shot the title first in singles. What can go wrong? Basically that’s all. So we choose before going to battle, we have to choose a hero. 4 character classes, each of them has unique skills and they complement each other. I chose Dev first. I felt an invisible connection, as the boy happened to be a cryptozoologist, and I read „Factor X” as a child, then searched for a chupacabra in the surrounding bushes and ditches (I did not find it).
Just a video explaining the rules of the fallen world where vampires rule and we get down to business. Before I knew it, I already had a solid arsenal and foundation in my inventory. What struck me in the first few minutes was the shooting. Don’t get me wrong, because it’s not like the guy recorded all that Call of Duty and now he’s hard.
There are a lot of shots in Redfall Download, but the average kbks has more shots than the best gun in this game. The sound of the blow is terrible, it’s sterile, almost polished, you don’t feel any recoil, the feeling is weak. The models themselves were made correctly (which cannot be said of the character models).

Yes, “polite” is a good word. The first hours leave no illusions: Redfall is a polished game, because the creators have colored all this fallen world with humor and relaxation. Is it good or is it bad? This is an individual problem. I will add that I was not sure whether to be afraid during the match. Well, in Redfall, we may not have such a terrible night as in Dying Light, but we do have a few missions that can be associated with Techland work.
Communication is the basis of a successful relationship
As the hours passed, the problems started piling up. First of all, it’s a damn hard single-player game. I started dying on a regular basis and I have to say that Redfall Free Download has a huge problem communicating certain things. We’re used to the game telling us that we’re exhausted, that we’re about to die: the screen goes red, our character screams, the sound is muffled, the squeaking in the ears… whatever. In Redfall buy, we have sterile character commentary and an almost imperceptible red background on our HUD.
I finally dropped the single. Communication failed several times during the bonus activity (revealing hiding places). Sometimes the key to success is finding the basement key, but that’s difficult if the small object has a glowing halo that merges with the light from the lantern and it’s dark in the game world. Solo or co-op, it doesn’t matter, Redfall game big flaw is revealed, namely unsatisfactory character development. You don’t need a lot of time to unlock the main skills. It seems that level 6 is enough, that we will obtain quickly, and then… and then we will not discover any key skills, we only improve those that exist, we modify them. Of course, there are passive skills waiting for us, such as: we heal faster, we can hold more ammo. These core skills are well thought out and reward player creativity, it’s still not enough.
Yes, we can customize our hero: here’s a cool hat, a neat backpack, but it seems to me that the aforementioned passive skills should come more from our wardrobe, but it’s not like that. Weapon customization? Well, Metro: Exodus it’s not and a substitute would be very useful, because ultimately Redfall is an FPS.

The main plot is nothing short of revealing in my opinion, but it can be swallowed. Ba! If we take the wisdom of „Take it easy, it’s going to be hot!” we’re actually going to get meat. The secondary activity is something we’ve seen many times before: unlocking hiding places, searching for specific items in a given location, destroying nests, eliminating groups of enemies, etc. All embellished with countless notes. In Redfall, there are not only vampires, but also cultists (essentially factions of cultists) who have a gift for the forces of evil and live in symbiosis. Agents of a mysterious organization could not miss. You have to fill the world with something, that’s life.
Enemy Intelligence
The intelligence of enemies deserves a separate paragraph. Actually, I don’t know what to say here. In Redfall PC Download, that element lies and creaks, and I was lying next to it, only to roll around laughing. It is also dangerous from the point of view of the gameplay itself, because such an opponent becomes unpredictable and players are accustomed to certain patterns and standards. Enemies also like to stand very close to environmental elements, the destruction of which causes a huge explosion, but that’s not a complaint. In fact, there are many such explosive items in Redfall, which has a very pleasant effect on the gameplay. If you have a good team in co-op, you can virtually eliminate a powerful group of opponents in seconds, if only you keep your tactical sense.

But what is it? What’s the use anyway?
Alright, so what does all this open world look like? I realize the gravity of the situation, that it’s a disaster, that people are hiding because the vampires are going crazy, but it’s clearly too empty. The world of Redfall needs more life, horror of horrors. And yet exploration and looting are moderately enjoyable. I was pulled out of this ecstasy by the fact that the game actually has a lot of miscellaneous little things, but basically we won’t be able to get anything concrete out of it.
Graphics are not Redfall’s forte
I complain about this Redfall Free Download, but I have to praise the game for one thing. Thanks to Redfall, I felt 10 years younger, like I bought an Xbox One the day it was released. It’s all thanks to the graphics. All screenshots included in this review were taken on the highest settings possible (I played on such gear). The game contains frames, but it’s a flimsy grip. In several places I had strong drops of 90 to 30 and even 25 fps. The update will help. There are also some minor bugs: the texture doesn’t load here, once I couldn’t turn on the flashlight at all, once I lost the ability to turn off the hint window, which resulted in a reboot.

So yes, we will find some fun here and a substitute for quite pleasant fun, but we have to pull Redfall by the ears. In the end, you can see an idea in all of this for yourself, but there’s not enough fuel here. It is an unfinished project, perhaps done in haste. It’s a project that you have to kindly ask to show us its strengths, but there aren’t too many of them. At the end of the day, Redfall will show positive things, but in my opinion only in co-op.
