Prince of Persia fans certainly did not expect this from the first announcements. I saw this from your comments under my playtest, but I also read statements from fans of the series from different backgrounds. The purple hero failed all along the line, but this still in my opinion cannot derail a good game. And such is undoubtedly The Rogue Prince of Persia free download. I’ll say right from the start that the game allows you to feel the “one more map” syndrome, where time inexplicably stretches from a quick 15 minutes to a surprising two hours. We don’t know when it flew by.
This is undoubtedly the biggest advantage of the game reviewed today, but both the idea behind it and all the mechanics can be enjoyed. There’s a lot of charm here, and the entire gameplay is divided into three differentiated acts. Levels are procedurally generated, so returning to this title we will encounter slightly different locations, which is supposed to prevent boredom and force the player to complete the production again. The developers also applied several patents that affect the overall perception of the game.
What is this all about and what are the motives of the main character?
So I’ll start with a quick description of the plot, which, as it turns out, doesn’t play any great role here. We simply learn about the motives of the Prince, who is the son of King Peroz. He has just found himself in a very difficult situation. The capital of the kingdom called Ktezyphon has been invaded by the Huns, masters of shamanistic magic.
We use the ability to go back in time, and our main goal is to save all the inhabitants of the city. We will discover various biomes along the way, learn to wield new weapons, improve our equipment and cooperate with various allies. The whole philosophy. There are no big twists here and we play The Rogue Prince of Persia for the cool mechanics, not to engage in an interestingly written story.
Let me start perhaps with the cartoonish and truly attractive graphics. As you can see from the pictures, the title has nothing to be ashamed of. Developers have risen to the challenge, providing attractive enemies, quite diverse locations and a great play of light and shadows. And all this watered down with comic sauce with all the inserts characteristic of the genre, such as escaping life points or dashes and circles formed after strikes.
The prince expresses his thoughts and point of view in the form of balloons popping up at the bottom. All remarks and hints, on the other hand, are displayed directly on the walls or rocks. When we need to jump somewhere, the objects we can grab are clearly marked. Purely mechanically it’s easy to figure out what’s going on, the entry threshold is quite low.
The prince has a whole host of varied attacks
This is what constitutes the strength of the reviewed The Rogue of Prince of Persia. Over time, the Prince is able to perform a variety of attacks. He is able to perform a quick dagger swing, but also prepare a special powerful blow that will hurt all enemies in our path. He can kick to knock an enemy off a ledge, or jump down on some thugs with powerful force.
He also shoots with a bow, performs dodges, flips and uses varied perks. We can carry only four of these, so it is necessary to choose the right ones to fit the situation. We’ll find them on our way and can, of course, buy new options with the gold we collect (which is worth dividing between equipment, life potions and perks). Over time we will also upgrade our weapons and the clothes we wear, adding points to their stats.
Since there isn’t much gold, it’s worth killing every opponent we encounter. This isn’t a platformer where we’ll casually bypass a few enemies and move on, because sometimes even 50 coins will make a difference if we happen to lose most of our lives. The perks themselves have very different possibilities. There are those that will leave a cloud of poisonous fumes after each enemy killed.
There are also those that cause a lightning strike with a strong attack, but only if you throw the enemy onto nearby spikes. The elements of the environment are of great importance, because in addition to spikes, you will find spinning sharp wheels or sinkholes or guillotines, among others. We can use all these elements to get rid of enemies, which sometimes leads to combinations of how to drive such thugs into a trap here.
You want more and more, which speaks well of this title
Evil Empire has accomplished a great thing. It has created a game that, despite its obvious pains (like the creation of the main character) draws you to the screen and doesn’t let go for hours. It has something in it that makes us want to play more and figure out what to do here to pass a level. Importantly, there are no shortcuts. If we haven’t accumulated enough gold and prepared for the oncoming enemies, we will have a hard time passing them.
It is much appreciated that The Rogue Prince of Persia torrent is not as easy as it might seem. Attractive instrumental music plays in the background, and the locations are inspired by the architecture of ancient Persia, which may appeal (especially the backgrounds). Often we will descend into different chambers, and the backgrounds will delight with their colors and changing atmosphere (which is also followed by new enemy creations).
On the other hand, what’s important, sometimes the locations get long and I felt like finishing the murderous dance. Sometimes I was annoyed by the fact that enemies would walk in on each other and throw grenades or shoot with a bow at one moment, which made it practically impossible for me to do a dodge or make some kind of jump-off, because there were melee opponents all around. The accumulation of these guys can be bloodthirsty.
So much good that you can feel the Prince becoming more powerful over time, and using perks, we can easily and quickly get rid of multiple enemies when one of them falls from the final blow. I appreciate the ingenuity of the developers, but most of all, I highly recommend The Rogue Prince of Persia pc download to any lover of platformers. On the other hand, will it be an item that will stir up its genre? Not necessarily. It’s just an enjoyable game, being a spin-off of the series, so to speak, but also a very loose adaptation of what Prince of Persia fans have come to expect. It’s a shame that we still haven’t seen a full-fledged sequel to 2010’s Forgotten Sands. Who knows, maybe in some time Ubisoft will surprise us positively? That’s what I wish for you and myself.
